Why I Built CareCade: A Father's Question

The Question

As a father of a son with developmental disabilities, I know the question that keeps parents up at night:

Is my child getting the care they deserve?

Not "Is care happening?" but "Is it good care?" Not "Did someone show up?" but "Did they engage, connect, help?"

This question drove me to build CareCade.

Living With Uncertainty

When your child receives care from someone else, you live with uncertainty. You drop them off or welcome the caregiver in, and then... you hope.

You hope the person is kind. You hope they're competent. You hope they actually do what they're supposed to do, not just mark time until the shift ends.

You call to check in. You look for signs when you return. You ask questions, knowing you might not get full answers.

This isn't distrust—it's love expressing itself through worry.

Seeing Both Sides

My journey took me through both sides of home care.

As a father, I experienced the anxiety of entrusting my son to others. The wondering. The hoping. The relief when things went well. The heartbreak when they didn't.

As a provider, I saw the caregiving side. The paperwork that buries good intentions. The systems that make it harder to focus on care. The lack of tools that would help caregivers do their best work.

And I saw the gap between them—the void where transparency should live.

Families couldn't see what was happening. Caregivers couldn't easily show their good work. Agencies couldn't prove their quality. Case managers couldn't verify anything without dozens of phone calls.

Everyone operating in the dark, connected only by paper and hope.

The Vision Emerged

What if families could actually see care happening?

Not surveillance—not cameras in every room. But verification. Confirmation. Peace of mind.

What if you could open an app and see: "Sarah's caregiver arrived at 2:03 PM. Visit verified at 1247 Oak Street. Activities logged: Community outing to park, practiced communication skills."

What if the question "Did care happen?" had a clear, verified answer?

What if the question "Was it good care?" could at least be informed by real documentation of what occurred?

What We're Building

CareCade is technology that brings transparency to every level of care:

For families: Know when care happens. See what activities occurred. Receive updates without calling anyone. Peace of mind, in real time.

For caregivers: Tools that help you focus on care, not paperwork. Documentation that's quick and easy. Recognition for showing up and doing good work.

For agencies: Scheduling, billing, and compliance that just works. Proof of quality for case managers. Systems that support growth, not create burden.

For case managers: One dashboard to see all your clients across all agencies. Verification without phone calls. Advocacy supported by data.

The Nonprofit Decision

CareCade Foundation is a nonprofit. This wasn't a business strategy—it was a values decision.

We believe:

  • Families shouldn't have to pay to know their loved one is cared for
  • Case managers shouldn't need expensive tools to do their jobs well
  • Transparency in care should be accessible, not a premium feature

So we made it free for families and case managers. Always.

Agencies pay affordable rates because the tools help them operate better. That sustains the mission without compromising the values.

Built Different

CareCade isn't built like typical software.

I went into the field. I provided care myself. I visited clients in Seattle and at their homes. I drove the miles, sat in the living rooms, felt what caregivers and families feel.

Every feature has a story. Every capability comes from a real moment, a real gap, a real need.

The micro features—the details that make the difference—came from serving, not from theorizing.

"Before I used to see it from a builder perspective. Now I see it as a servant and a family member."

That shift changed everything.

The Mission

We believe every family deserves to know their loved one is cared for.

Not hope. Know.

This isn't just software. It's an answer to the question that keeps parents up at night. It's transparency where there was opacity. It's peace of mind where there was worry.

CareCade exists because families deserve better than faith alone. Because caregivers deserve tools that support their good work. Because the care industry needs transformation that starts with visibility.
