Navigate to your appointments easily with built-in directions. CareCade connects with your phone's maps app to get you where you need to go.


Getting Directions

From the Appointment

  1. Open the appointment details
  2. Tap the address or Directions button
  3. Your maps app opens with the destination
  4. Follow the navigation to arrive

From the Schedule

  1. Go to the Schedule tab
  2. Find the appointment
  3. Tap the map icon or address
  4. Navigation begins

From the Dashboard

  1. Your next appointment shows on the dashboard
  2. Tap the address
  3. Directions open in your maps app

Choosing Your Maps App

CareCade works with your default maps app:

iPhone

  • Apple Maps (default)
  • Google Maps (if installed)
  • Waze (if installed)

To change your default:

  1. Go to iPhone Settings → Default Apps
  2. Or when prompted, choose your preferred app

Android

  • Google Maps (default)
  • Waze (if installed)
  • Other installed maps apps

The first time you tap directions, you may be asked which app to use.

Once in your maps app:

Real-Time Navigation

  • Turn-by-turn directions
  • Voice guidance
  • Traffic updates
  • Estimated arrival time

Multiple Routes

Most maps apps show:

  • Fastest route
  • Alternative routes
  • Traffic conditions
  • Estimated times

During Navigation

  • Follow the voice prompts
  • Glance at turns as needed
  • The app adjusts for real-time conditions
  • Reroutes if you miss a turn

Planning Your Route

Before You Leave

  1. Check the appointment time
  2. Open directions to see travel time
  3. Add buffer time for:
    • Traffic
    • Parking
    • Finding the exact location
  4. Leave early enough to arrive on time

Between Appointments

  1. Before finishing current appointment, check next address
  2. Know approximate travel time
  3. Factor travel time into your schedule
  4. Don't rush between appointments

Handling Address Issues

Address Not Found

If maps can't find the address:

  1. Check for typos in the displayed address
  2. Try searching manually in maps
  3. Contact the office for address clarification
  4. Look for landmarks mentioned in notes

Wrong Location Shown

If the map pin is incorrect:

  1. Note the actual address
  2. Search manually in maps
  3. Report the issue to your administrator
  4. The address can be corrected in the system

Apartment/Unit Numbers

For apartments or complexes:

  1. Navigate to the main address
  2. Check appointment notes for unit info
  3. Building/unit numbers shown in notes
  4. Look for callbox or entry instructions

Tips for Navigation

Know Your Area

  • Familiarize yourself with your service area
  • Learn main roads and landmarks
  • Know which areas have tricky parking
  • Understand traffic patterns

Check Traffic

  • Review traffic before leaving
  • Use your maps app's traffic layer
  • Leave extra time during rush hours
  • Have alternate routes in mind

Parking Considerations

  • Some areas have limited parking
  • Check notes for parking instructions
  • Allow time for finding parking
  • Know about parking restrictions

Rural or Difficult Addresses

  • Download maps offline if needed
  • Get detailed directions in advance
  • Note landmarks from previous visits
  • Contact client if unsure

For frequent visits:

In Your Maps App

  • Save common addresses
  • Star locations for quick access
  • Create collections by area
  • Access saved places quickly

In CareCade

  • Client addresses are automatically saved
  • Access from client profile
  • View all upcoming locations in schedule
  • History shows past visits

Troubleshooting

Maps App Not Opening

  1. Ensure a maps app is installed
  2. Check app permissions
  3. Update your maps app
  4. Restart CareCade and try again

GPS Not Working

  1. Enable location services
  2. Give location permission to maps app
  3. Ensure good GPS signal
  4. Restart your phone if needed

No Internet/Data

If you lose connection:

  1. Use offline maps if available
  2. Note the address before losing signal
  3. Use landmarks and general direction
  4. Connect to WiFi when possible

Wrong Travel Time Estimates

Maps estimates are approximate:

  • Add buffer time
  • Consider time of day

If you prefer text:

  1. Open directions in maps
  2. Look for text/list view option
